GATE Enrichment Program
The GATE Enrichment Program offers 2 1/2 hour weekly sessions of enrichment for approximately one quarter each year to eligible GATE students. Students are pulled from their regular classrooms and bussed to the GATE Enrichment Classroom at Bernard Eldredge School.
The primary focus of study for the 2010-2011 GATE Enrichment Program is the study of Plane and Solid Geometry. Students will learn key terms and concepts (angle measurement, bisection, perpendiculars, regular polygons, polyhedra, etc) and learn to use basic geometric tools (protractor, compass) to create elaborate Arabic designs, generated from hexagon, pentagon and octagon bases. Students will create portfolios for their work.
Students in the Enrichment Program regularly work in collaborative teams to design web pages, problem-solve, or compete as university teams in academic competitions.
